Fears growing for welfare of April, who suffers from cerebral palsy and may require regular medication
Missing schoolgirl April Jones suffers from a disability which may require regular medication, it emerged last night.
Her grandfather Richard Moon, 69, and step-grandmother Jean Moon, 59, described how the five-year-old has mild cerebral palsy.
The brain condition can hinder development and affect posture, balance and movement, but other than experiencing slight problems with her hands, April tries to live a normal life.

Tears: In a heart-breaking appeal to the nation's media, Coral Jones, the mother of missing five-year-old April Jones, broke down as she said: 'There must be someone out there who knows where she is'
Press conference: Mrs Jones, with step-grandfather Dai Smith said she was 'desperate' for any news as police released details of a Land Rover Discovery belonging to Mark Bridger and appealed for information
Her condition was revealed as detectives searching for the little girl were left deeply frustrated by their lack of progress.
They have continued to question Mark Bridger after making the extraordinary decision to issue pictures of him and his blue Land Rover Discovery and confirm he had been arrested over Aprils disappearance.
It is highly unusual for police to name suspects in custody before they have been charged.
But Detective Superintendent Reg Bevan said he was confirming Bridgers identity to end speculation, stressing that he was just one of several lines of inquiry.
Officers appear to be no closer to finding out what happened to April, who was snatched near her home in Machynlleths Bryn-y-Gog estate, in mid Wales, at about 7pm on Monday.
An emotional appeal from mother Coral Jones, televised yesterday, did not provide an immediate golden nugget of information about Aprils whereabouts.
Mrs Jones was barely able to speak through her tears as she said: 'There must be someone out there who knows where she is. We are desperate for any news, please, please help find her.'

With dozens more police due to join the search, senior officers said they are in no way scaling back their operation.
It emerged detectives have not ruled out the possibility that more than one person was involved in Aprils abduction.
Asked about the prospects of finding April alive, Superintendent Ian John said: Our efforts are completely focused on doing that and we will continue to do that. I dont want to speculate and put any kind of time limit on that.
Aprils grandfather, Mr Moon, a former RAF statistician, told the Mail: Its the waiting, its killing us.
We just dont know what to do. Ive spoken to Coral and she is in bits, she could hardly talk, its just terrible.
Were just praying that she will come home safe, but as the hours go by its just too terrible to contemplate.
Mr Moon said that April had been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, but added: Shes been coping fine with it, she has a few problems, you can see from the pictures she has a few problems with her hands, but she is like a normal five-year-old.
She loves riding her bike, being out with her friends, shes a beautiful little girl.

Its like somebody has dropped a bomb, I cant imagine what Coral and [her husband] Paul are going through. When anything goes wrong with your kids part of you dies, part of you is missing.
Mrs Moon said they were in regular contact with Mrs Jones, but added: Weve been speaking to the family to find out whats going on. We dont really want to watch it on television, its such a heartache and every time there is a piece of news we are scared of the consequences.
She added that Mrs Jones knew Bridger, 46, because he lived next door to the family for a short time in Machynlleth.
Detective Superintendent Bevan, leading the inquiry, said of Bridger: He has been interviewed twice.
Clearly, our focus in those interviews, as it is in this whole inquiry, is to find April. That is primarily what weve been discussing with him. What I dont want to do is compromise the investigation or any chance of finding April, so unfortunately I cant divulge exactly what hes told us so far.
He appealed for witnesses who may have seen Bridger or his Land Rover Discovery 4x4 vehicle, registration number L503 MEP, between Monday evening, when April disappeared, and Tuesday afternoon, when Bridger was arrested on foot on the outskirts of Machynlleth.

Detective Superintendent Bevan added that his Land Rover Discovery was recovered from a repair garage in Machynlleth a little later.
Police have received more than 400 calls since making the appeal for information and are focusing on 20 sites, including houses, outbuildings, open areas and riverbanks around Machynlleth.
Superintendent John said the search for April was continuing to grow and grow at quite a pace.

Mrs Jones' moving appeal yesterday followed a statement on Tuesday night when Mrs Jones and her husband Paul said: Last night our lives were shattered when our beautiful little girl April, who was playing with friends, was taken from us.
We are devastated and our lives have stopped. Please please if you have our little girl let her come home to us.
Detective Superintendent Reg Bevan released a new picture of Bridger yesterday morning and appealed to anyone who had seen him to come forward, adding: 'If you have the smallest information it could be crucial to this investigation.'
Bridger's arrest happened less than an hour before a scheduled 4.30pm press conference on Tuesday involving Aprils parents. It was postponed as a result of the development.
