No sails: This Grade II listed windmill lacks its traditional vanes but is on the market for £425,000

If you have a cool half million pounds to spare, a penchant for spiral staircases and don't mind passers-by ogling, this could be the home for you.
In a vary rare opportunity this Grade II listed windmill, nestling in the Oxfordshire countryside, has come on the market.
With a topsy-turvey design, the bathroom is on the lower ground floor, the bedrooms are in the middle and the lounge is at the top of the five-storey house.

Quirky: The kitchen has a country cottage feel with units in the kitchen fitted at different angles to accommodate the windmill's rotund shape

On offer from Savills at £425,000 pounds, the windmill has no sails but is quirky in every other respect. It has been on the site since 1700 and was a working mill until the turn of the last century.
It was converted 14 years ago into a home and the current owners have lived there for the last six. They told the estate agents they had reluctantly decided to sell in order to downsize in preparation for their twilight years.
Huw Warren, associate director at Savills, said: 'It is a most unusual property set out over five floors.

A steep wooden spiral staircase gives access to the windmill's different rooms set out across five floors

'Each floor has one circular room and is accessed by a steep wooden spiral staircase.
'The outstanding feature is the living room at the top which has 360 degree windows that allow you to see for miles.
'I know the current owners have a television in there but I don't think they switch it on because they are so busy enjoying the spectacular views.'

The windmill sits in the quaint village of Blackthorn, just three miles from Bicester.
The current layout of the mill is slightly unusual with the lower ground floor comprising of the family bathroom and utility space.
The entrance to the property is on the ground floor which is also where the second bedroom can be found, which has views across neighbouring farmland.

Scenic: The view outside the windmill transcends for miles

The master bedroom and en-suite are on the first floor with the kitchen on the second and the living room on the third.
Buyers of the mill will also get a garden around its base and a garage/workshop.
'The current owners love living there and have done so for six years,' said Mr Warren.
'I know it was a difficult decision for them to sell such a unique home that they have really enjoyed.'
